Height Comparison
Compare heights side by side on a shared scale. Enter centimeters or feet and inches, add up to six people, and see the exact numerical gap between each pair.
Compare 2–6 people using centimeters or feet and inches. Each person can use different units.
One scale, one floor line. Swipe the chart sideways if you add more people than fit on your screen.

How to compare heights
- Enter a name or leave the default label for each person.
- Choose centimeters or feet/inches for that person. For feet and inches, enter both fields; use 0 when needed.
- Choose a figure color. Use Add Person to compare up to six people.
- Select Compare Heights to draw the chart and see every pair’s height difference.
- Read the conversion table, copy the results, or download the chart as an SVG image.
What does the height comparison chart show?
The figures stand on the same floor line and use one vertical scale. A person entered as 180 cm is drawn taller than a person entered as 160 cm by the same proportion as those measurements. The ruler starts at zero, so the height gap is not exaggerated by a cropped axis.
The silhouettes are simple illustrations. Their width, posture, head size, and proportions do not describe the people you enter. Use the chart to compare standing height, rather than body shape or appearance.
How is the height difference calculated?
The tool converts each entry to centimeters, then subtracts the shorter height from the taller height. For example, 185 cm minus 170 cm gives a 15 cm difference, which is about 5.91 inches.
With three or more people, the result lists every pair, along with the gap between the tallest and shortest entries. Equal heights are identified directly. Calculations use the entered values before the displayed results are rounded.
Feet and inches to centimeters
One international inch equals 2.54 centimeters, and one foot contains 12 inches. Convert a height by multiplying the feet by 12, adding the remaining inches, and multiplying the total by 2.54. These conversion factors are listed in the NIST Guide to the SI.
For 5 feet 9 inches: (5 × 12 + 9) × 2.54 = 175.26 cm. For a 6-foot height, enter 6 in Feet and 0 in Inches. Inches must be less than 12; enter 6 feet 0 inches rather than 5 feet 12 inches.
| Feet and inches | Centimeters |
|---|---|
| 5 ft 0 in | 152.40 cm |
| 5 ft 4 in | 162.56 cm |
| 5 ft 8 in | 172.72 cm |
| 6 ft 0 in | 182.88 cm |
| 6 ft 4 in | 193.04 cm |
Does 5.9 feet mean 5 feet 9 inches?
No. Decimal feet and feet/inches are different formats. In 5.9 feet, the 0.9 foot equals 10.8 inches, making the height 5 feet 10.8 inches. This tool uses separate feet and inches fields to avoid that mix-up.
Comparing couples, friends, and fictional characters
Use measured heights for friends or family. For a fictional character, enter the height given by the source you are using. Names are labels, and the calculator does not look up celebrity or character heights. If a reported measurement is uncertain, the chart inherits that uncertainty.
You can also enter an object’s height as a reference, but it will appear as the same neutral figure. This page does not include a database of buildings, products, or average heights.
Reading and saving the chart on a phone
Two figures are usually the easiest comparison to read on a small screen. When you add more, the chart scrolls inside its own panel while the input cards remain stacked. The table keeps the full names and measurements visible even when chart labels are shortened.
Download SVG Chart saves a vector image that stays sharp when enlarged. The image includes the chart labels and ruler. It does not include the separate conversion table or pairwise results; use Copy Results to keep those values as text.
Measurement accuracy and privacy
The calculator accepts heights from 20 to 300 cm. It compares the values you enter and does not measure height from a photograph, predict future growth, or calculate a height percentile. Displayed conversions are rounded to two decimal places in centimeters and one decimal place in feet/inches.
Names and heights are processed by the calculator in your browser. The tool does not create a public comparison link. If you share the downloaded image, its name labels are included, so use initials or generic labels when you prefer.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compare heights in cm and feet at the same time?
Yes. Choose units separately for each person. All entries are converted to centimeters for calculation, and the results table shows both unit systems.
How much taller is 6 feet than 5 feet 8 inches?
The difference is 4 inches, or 10.16 cm. Six feet is 182.88 cm; 5 feet 8 inches is 172.72 cm.
Can I compare more than two people?
Yes. Add up to six people. The chart uses a shared scale, and the results list the height difference for every pair.
Are the figures drawn to scale?
Their vertical heights use the same scale and floor line. Body shapes and widths are illustrative rather than measured.
Can I download my height comparison?
Yes. After comparing, select Download SVG Chart. Use Copy Results to save the measurements and height differences as text.
Does the tool predict adult height or height percentile?
No. It compares entered measurements. It does not predict growth, determine population percentiles, or measure height from a photo.
